Happy Birthday Cameron

Our nephew Cameron turned 9 years old yesterday! Wow, it's very hard for me to believe that he is that old, even though I know he is. My sister Katie and I were pregnant at the same time (I LOVE when that happens with one of my sisters). She was expecting Cam during the same time I was expecting Jackson...Cam was born in October (obviously) and Jack in February.

Katie lived in Japan at the time so we weren't able to see each other pregnant, but we talked a lot on the phone. I remember once while talking to her, she was in a fast food line waiting on her order...she suddenly exclaimed that she thought her water had broken. But nope...just a little "sprinkle" as she calls it. In Katie-speak, "sprinkle" is the term for when you need to use the restroom really, really bad and before you can get there a very slight amount of tinkle makes it way out, which you are able to quickly stop. Thus, you've sprinkled yourself. I'm pretty sure its happened to many of us while pregnant.

But, anyways, about Cameron. He has grown into a remarkable young man. He's hilariously funny, an incredible athlete (he plays quarterback on his football team) and very, very smart. He also is unusually spiritual for a small child. He was baptized, along with his mother (yes, the sprinkler) this past February. And for as long as he could talk before, he'd been interested in Jesus, interested in being saved, in helping others become saved. While most kids like to be read to, I only know of one who asked me to read him a story and when I agreed, brought over the bible. He's also the one who used to stand up during the invitational when visiting other churches. I was lucky enough to see him be baptized and I will never ever forget it.

Last night, Cameron went to Nana's house for cake and ice cream with family and friends. I so much wish we could have been there to help him celebrate.
