My Sisters' Euro-Moment

Actually, it's two of my sisters Euro-moment. This one is so hilarious that even though it isn't about the kids, it's too priceless NOT to put on the blog. I really believe the whole wide world should get to share in this laugh...

Okay, so my sisters and their families are going to the beach this summer. Al and I can't go becuase of work and school (stinks). So anyhow, my sisters were trying to convince our mom to come with them and she told them that she could not/would not/didn't want to/had to work/couldn't afford it.

So they decided to book her an airline ticket so that she could join them, figuring she wouldn't say no once she had a ticket in her hand. So the two sisters, Katie and Ashley get on the phone with each other while Ashley is searching the internet for a good travel deal. And what do ya know??? She finds one! SCORE! A ticket for $259 . Excitedly Katie calls and books the deal.

Only later on, when Katie receives her bank statement, she finds her account is way lower than what it should be. What the heck???? The bank has taken out close to $400 for the ticket! No, this can't be right.

She calls the airlines who informs her that she should have checked the ticket price more carefully. No, my sister hadn't found a deal for 259 DOLLARS. My sister had found a deal for 259 EUROS!

Katie and Ashley were furious and wanted to know why in the world an airline ticket going from Tennessee (USA) to South Carolina (USA) and booked thru United Airlines (USA) should be listed in European currency! Turns out their booking agency is in Barcelona, Spain. Anyhow, the airlines were very rude to my sister, one agent even hung up on her when she asked to speak to a supervisor.

This story has had me laughing my tail off for two days, which is when I heard about it. Seriously, this stuff ONLY happens to my sisters. Those two have the WORST travel booking luck of anyone I've ever met. There are many stories I could tell to back this up.

This one may be one of the better ones however. I know that those of you who know my sisters are cracking up becuase its just sooooo THEM!

LOL, I would be ticked off too though! What site did they find the price on?

Jenn,
I think it was directly thru the airlines on the united website but I'm not positive. I'll have to ask so that we'll all know in the future to watch out for that.
