Is It Wrong???

Is it wrong that I hid out in the bathroom for 18 minutes today, just to avoid having to refill juice cups one more stinkin time? Is it wrong that I sat there, in complete solitude, and enjoyed the silence? Sure, I could hear the kiddos running around in the living room and kitchen but I felt luxuriously safe on the other side of that door....and I didn't feel very guilty about it. I wish I could have stayed longer...is that what my life is coming to? Pretending to need to use the bathroom to get a break?

At dinner tonight, while my children sat expectantly at the table waiting on their fixed plates to magically appear in front of them (cause that's what Moms do) and my husband sat in front of the television doing the same (cause that's what wives do), I made an agreement with myself. See, truth be told, I find plate fixing very annoying. I'm not sure why. I don't mind cooking at all, but plate fixing- its monotonous, and takes a long time since there are so many people. I feel like I'm starving to death by the time the last plate gets to the last person, by which time, the first served kid is usually asking for seconds. I've been vocal in the past about my annoyance and my hubby is just as vocal about the fact that he sees plate fixing as the job of the wife/mom. So, as this is one issue that while we may disagree, and its not all that hard to honor my husbands wishes by complying, I have seriously put forth effort to fix plates lovingly and happily and not with a bad attitude (though what I think is fair is for me to fix the little kids plates, and Albert and the older kids can fix their own....after all, I might like to eat this century too). It's funny how life works though, because just as I was having to make the conscious choice to fix the 57th plate lovingly and with a smile, my husband appeared out of nowhere and said "honey, what can I get you? What would you like me to fix on your plate?" And I felt happiness and warmth immediately flood my heart. I do love him so much...even if it is secretly annoying that he thinks plate fixing is automatically "the mom's job." He is after all, traditional like that.
Later in the evening, as we headed out to grab an ice tea (because I usually need one every few days..and that's a cut back from my previous twice a day!) I heard my husband lament the fact that he had to drive and would I like to drive while he sat in the passenger seat because boy he gets sick and tired of driving everywhere (we all know I don't really like to drive if I can get out of it). I smiled and laughed and simply said "Sorry honey! Driving is the husband's job!" Is that wrong??? Hmmm....

Loved this post...oh do I know the feeling, although I only had 6 kids to fix plates for. Then went "awwwwwwwwww" at what your hubby did, then went on to laughing so hard at how you ended the post! Perfect ending if you ask me! Don't see anything wrong with it at all!
These verses give such great comfort! Praying!
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

LOL! Ok, so you need the deal I have... NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, takes a single bite of food until MY plate is finally fixed and I have sat down and we say grace. No way and I going to refill anyone's plates if nothing has touched my lips yet. (it is a bit harder with infants and toddlers, but that is why I always cut TONS of food and set i aside for "just in case". LOL)

And, nope, not wrong at all. If Albert wants to be old fashioned, it has to work for him AND against him ;)

Lifting up prayers!
Psalm 3:3-5 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

Hiding out in the bathroom - Been there, done that! And no, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Sometimes it's a sanity saver. :-)

Praying in Seattle!
Romans 5:4-6 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
