Family Favorites

Tongiht is one of our family's favorites. It's the BCS Championship game. And this years match up couldn't be better. Well, okay, so it could be better- if it featured South Carolina or Tennessee. But this year it DOES feature TWO SEC teams. We are thrilled. It's a matchup of LSU and Bama.
To say we are excited and very prepared for this game, which starts in seven minutes, is an understatement. We've had dinner, done chores and have all our game snacks and drinks laid out. Even Mia is sitting on the couch, totally ready for gametime!

I know its been some time since our last update, so I also wanted to say that we had a wonderful Christmas and an excellent New Year. My mom was able to be here visiting us for Christmas and it was the first Christmas our children have ever had her here. It was very exciting! We followed all our regular traditions- appetizers for Christmas Eve, our second annual secret santa exchange between the kids, watching A Christmas Story right before bed, checking Santa's location on the NORAD webiste, leaving out the cookies and milk, reading THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS and most importantly talking together about the very first Christmas and what that means, and helping the littles understand the reasons behind our tradition of gift giving.

The day after Christmas is Manny's birthday so we usually celebrate by going out to eat and then to a movie. This year, we let the movie be just for the boys while the girls came home from lunch to bake cupcakes and let Mia nap. Manny had friends (read, his girlfriend and another couple friends) come over for movie night later that evening. Nana made him purple and white cupcakes (school colors).

We celebrated New Years by going down to Tennessee to visit my mom and sisters. My mom had returned home on the 27th and had brought our oldest four boys with her. We had a fabulous time with my mama, my sisters, nieces and nephews and our dear friends Anna and Lisa. My nephew Preston was baptized while we were there. It was perfect and wonderful and I was a bit sad to come home. I miss all of them.

Off to watch the game now- one minute till kick off!

Romans 5:6-9 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

Psalm 91:1-2, 4: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust...He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Hebrews 6:17-20 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Psalms 16:8-9, 11 I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. (11) Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

  11. Stopping by to let you know that I'm always here praying!
Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

  12. Look to the Lord for all things! He'll always be with you! Praying!
Isaiah 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
