Well, we made it through the first week of school/work after Christmas break. I must say it wasn't as bad as I had fact, in some respects I enjoyed the opportunity to clean the house without all the boys/men around. I've found that it's not so much the babies, but the older boys and my dear husband who are responsible for the majority of the mess around here. For instance, last night after I went to bed, the five older boys and Albert apparently enjoyed a plethora of late night snacks, including strawberry ice cream, Slim Jim's, French bread leftover from dinner and tall glasses of apple cider. They also watched movies and must have spent a great deal of time agonizing over exactly WHICH movies to watch because when I woke up this morning to fix breakfast, I was immediately met with the carnage from their night of midnight snacks and search for the perfect movie to watch....DVD's strewn everywhere, the sink which was empty when I went to bed was now filled with dishes (and they didn't even bother to put a little bit of water in the bowls where they had eaten ice cream...ya'll know how ice cream sticks when it gets dried up in the bowl...gross). Our cofee table was suddenly covered with Slim Jim wrappers, the empty Slim Jim container, assorted bowls, cups and crumbs.
I won't mention how irritating I find this. Espicially after I already lost my marbles yesterday afternoon when the kids destroyed the upstairs loft which has recently been converted into a play area...and when I say "lost my marbles" I mean it in a major way. In such a major way that my husband could only look at me with a shocked expression and ask if I'd had my Zoloft for the day. I'm here to argue however, that my tantrum had nothing to do with a missed Zoloft, but rather with the frusteration that comes from having to DAILY repeat the SAME THING over and over and OVER! Seriously how hard it is to remember simple basics in life. If you play with the Lincoln Logs, then put them back into the container. If you took the container of wipes to change a diaper (which I greatly appreciate) don't let the babies tear all of the clean wipes out of said container and toss them all over the floor. When you come out of the bathroom, please close the door so that we don't find Sydney playing in the toilet (playing in pee if she goes in after Brice). If you make a PB & J sandwhich, please put away the bread, PB & J, and for goodness sakes, please wipe up the smears of peanut butter from the counter. And if you eat ice cream in the middle of the night, please fill your bowl with water when you put it in the sink! And we don't need 49495858 DVD's out so that you can watch ONE! Okay, you get the point. I could go on and on....perhaps I should up my Zoloft dosage!
In other news, I made a really yummy casserole for breakfast this morning. It was so easy.
2 cans of cream of potato soup
8 oz of sour cream
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
2 pounds hash browns
2 cups of cheddar cheese
1 cup parmesian cheese

Mix the soup, sour cream and garlic salt together really well. Then add hash browns and cheddar cheese. Put it in a casserole dish and top with the parm cheese. Bake at 350 for an hour. SOOOOO yummy. NOTE: If you have a family the size of mine or Debi''ll need to double the recipe. This is the recipe amounts listed in the cook book. It yeilds about 10 servings. Since we made other stuff as well (French toast) I made one and a half times the recipe instead of double. Anyhoo, it was really good.
