Corn part one...

I love living in a rural farm community for many reasons. One of those reasons is watching the corn get planted each year and enjoying how astonishingly fast it grows up and then how it is harvested. This year we've decided to chronicle this. We took a picture of Brandon last Sunday- June 1st. Then we will take another photo in the same stop every week or two so you can all enjoy it with us. Simple- yes. But simple pleasures in life are the best.

Is it corn or soybean?

I think corn. That lot is beside the Dollar General in Mascoutah, and I'm pretty sure its a corn field every year. If not, I guess we'll have to switch our weekly pic location and start over, or else watch the progression of soybean!

sometimes they do alternate when planting. We shall see.

My favorite thing about simple pleasures is that it usually means there is no serious drama going on. Life is just going along spendidly. I hope that is the case for you all.

We too live in a rural community and I always point out the corn growth to the kids. It starts out like a chocolate field with just a bit of mint froth, then the mint takes over like magic....the corn around here is ankle high...oh, the simple pleasures.

Thanks for sharing your blog. My husband and I are a farm family so we live and breath in a rural community. :) Just finishing up wheat harvest today! Praise God it was good this year!

We currently have 7 children and are adopting 2 more girls from Bulgaria. We hope to have them home by the end of this year. Thanks again, Kelly
