Missing Patches...

...of hair. Brice is missing patches of his hair folks. Today, for no apparent purpose, Brice decided to borrow his Dad's clippers and buzz two spots of hair on his head. We don't know why. I'm not certain that Brice even knows why. Perhaps it's because he recently went to the local barber shop with his Dad and brothers and got a hair cut there and has been fascinated by the hair cutting process ever since. Maybe it's just because he's Brice. Either way, he's now sporting two dime sized patches of baldness. One on the top and one on the side. It's so...him. He doesn't seem to mind it. Really, neither do I. Live and learn, I guess.

Our Children

Drew is our first child. He was born on July 27th 1995. Albert and I were married just four days after he was born- at the tender age of 19! Drew is the most amazing oldest child we could ask for. He is caring, compassionate, friendly, and incredibly helpful. He’ll be starting tenth grade this fall! He loves music and singing. He sings in the school chorus and just made show choir! He has also taught himself to play the piano pretty darn well! We are very proud of his talent and hope that he continues with his musical interests. When Drew was born, I still lived at home with my parents, while Albert was in San Diego, having just joined the Marine Corps. As soon as we married, Albert signed us up for base housing and we waited. And waited. Six months later, our housing was available and Drew and I packed up and moved out to San Diego. We spent three years there. Drew spent his toddler hood enjoying a nice warm climate, the beach and lots of fun attractions and things to do! We left California when he was four years old. We’ve been in the St. Louis area ever since.

Emanuel is our second child. He was born December 26th 1996 while we were living in San Diego- in our first base housing. Emanuel’s birth was the first that Albert was able to attend. Manny was also the first baby I breastfed. I’m sure he’ll love that little bit of info being included! Emanuel is a fabulous teenager. He’s a straight A honor roll student and was student of the month for May! He plays basketball and football and runs track. He’s quite the ladies man and constantly has girls calling and chasing after him. He’s also an incredibly sweet, charming young man. He’s very helpful at home and is close to his younger siblings- he sets a great example for them! His relationship with his Dad is amazing and very close. He has always been a Daddy’s boy! When Manny was six months old, we moved out of our first base housing and into newer, much better housing. We had two boys and loved going to the beach, and seeing all the beautiful scenery in southern California. Emanuel was a beautiful baby who has grown into a very handsome teenager!

Brandon arrived shortly after we moved to St. Louis. He is our third child and was born on October 29, 1999. We bought our first house when he was six months old. Brandon has always been an outspoken, daring, and bold child. He never hides his feelings and always tells it like it is. He is incredibly close to his Dad and loves to go anywhere and everywhere his Dad goes! He also likes to watch movies and play sports. Currently he plays football but is interested in exploring wrestling. When he was five years old, he got sick with Aplastic Anemia. We know without a doubt that his incredibly strong, assertive personality is part of what helped him get better.

Jackson was born on February 19, 2002. He is our fourth child and is one of the sweetest, most compassionate and caring children I know. He is also an honor roll student, who makes all A’s and sometimes all A’s and B’s. He plays football and wants to run track like his big brother when he gets older. He loves to watch wrestling and play outside. He also loves to cook! Ask him about his “hearty maple beans” recipe! He is very popular and makes many friends. We love how sweet he is, and how attached he is to his Mama! He’s a fierce protector of his Mom- if you have a problem with me, you have a problem with him! He’s going to make a wonderful husband some day!

Brice is baby number five! He was born on March 8, 2005- his Dad’s 29th birthday! Brice is the most spirited of all the Fontenot children. He is extremely energetic, talkative, creative, emotional, and just always go-go-go! He never runs out of energy and never runs out of things to say. He lives to have fun. He is very confident and sure of himself and isn’t afraid to make his needs known! He loves trains, swimming and playing outside. He is itching to play football but will have to wait one more year to be old enough! He will be starting Kindergarten in the fall and is so excited he can hardly stand it! He loves his siblings more than we can describe- and is particularly good with the babies in the family! All of his energy can be a bit challenging to us- but his spirit and often his words- are precious! When he was 8 months old, we moved into a new house just over the MO border into IL. We’d fast outgrown the old house and the new one suited us perfectly! Then began what we call “our baby explosion”…

Isaiah and Alexandria were born on September 29, 2006. They were the first babies we conceived in an effort to get an HLA sibling match for Brandon. While neither of them ended up being our match- they were definitely the light of our lives! They were born by C-section- which their Dad almost missed! Isaiah spent 8 days in the NICU but overall both of them were healthy- weighing in at 5 pounds 8 ounces and 6 pounds 4 ounces- not bad for 35 weekers! Although they are twins- their personalities couldn’t be more different! Isaiah is sweet, shy, soft-spoken and very cooperative and compliant. Alexandria is a diva- loud, bossy, whiny, uncooperative and demanding- yet she is also such a sweetie, very affectionate…and very spoiled! What can we say- she was the first girl! She is a girly-girl and loves to wear nail polish and play with baby dolls. She loves dressing up and having her hair done! Our twins are three years old now and we have so much fun with them!

Sydney was born on November 9, 2007. She was our second pregnancy in an attempt to get Brandon’s match. Though she didn’t match- we couldn’t imagine life without her! She is a really cool little kid! She is super laid back, very talkative and animated, friendly, and lots of fun to be with. Like her older sister, she is demanding and spoiled (LOL!) but so sweet and such a great cuddler! She loves to jump on the trampoline and play in the bounce house. She also loves to watch Barney and sing songs!

Kambree was born November 22, 2008. She is our second baby that was successfully breastfed and she continues nursing today- at 18 months old. She is silly, sweet, cuddly, and a great big Mommy’s girl- her world just doesn’t function right without Mommy right there. She loves to play with baby dolls and loves to dance. She is a bit more reserved than her sisters- she isn’t fond of the trampoline or the bounce house. She likes to stick close to Mommy or Daddy. She loves to sit on our laps and hear a story and especially loves to eat! She’ll eat most anything- especially if it contains sugar- though she is also a fan of veggies and salad! As she gets bigger, we are so excited to watch her personality unfold. Best of all, Bree gives the greatest hugs you can imagine! I could sit in the rocking chair and hug her for hours!

Miss Mia is baby number 10! She was born April 16, 2010 and is an Aries just like her Mama! In fact, we seriously considered naming her Aries! She is our third breast fed baby! Mia is a lot of personality in a tiny package! She knows exactly what she wants- she will ONLY sleep with Mommy and demands to be held almost constantly. She nurses all the time and cries quite a bit. She has only ONE pacifier that she will tolerate. But she is beautiful and amazing and we can’t wait to watch her grow! Right now, until she can talk and interact more, Mommy is having a ball dressing her up in girly clothes and putting big frilly headbands and hats on her head! And taking her picture constantly!!!!!
