Random Reflections

Albert went back to work yesterday. St. Louis teachers are heading back to the classrooms with student following shortly.
Mascoutah is having a super long summer this year, due to the building of the new high school, so our children don't return to the classroom for another month. Don't be jealous though...to make it up, next year the kids don't get out until June 18th or some such late date...and go back fairly early in August. They will only have barely two months...if that. So they are enjoying this summer tremendously. Their summer this year spans basically from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Yesterday and today, there is a gap of time between when Albert leaves and before any of the kids wake up...it's delicious. Silent and delicious. I ate breakfast at the computer while checking email and blogging. I'm sure within the next half hour little ones will start to stir.

My friend Ora had a baby yesterday afternoon! She had a little girl named Tori Lyn. I've seen a few pictures and she is beautiful, just like her brothers and sisters. I had totally guessed she was having a boy (she does not find out her children's gender before birth) based on the heart rate...you all know that old wives tale right? I am so excited about Tori's arrival. I can't wait to meet her! Newborns smell so good and are so sweet to cuddle and hold. I hope Ora's feeling up to having visitors soon!

I was wrong. I didn't have a half-hour. Brandon and Isaiah just appeared downstairs. Brandon asked me to go to the store for doughnuts.

I have already started Christmas shopping. It seems weird in the middle of summer, but with ten kids, it's so necessary.

Our family has gotten hooked on watching Teen Wolf together....Albert and I all the way down to Brice. We are weird! The season finale is coming soon. Guess we'll have to find something else after that!

I am about 30% through my back-to-school supply shopping for the kids. I got new backpacks yesterday for Alexandria, Isaiah, Brice and Jackson. I didn't think the older kids would want me to pick theirs for them.

The kids had a blast at homecoming. I have a couple videos to upload and share. I'll try to get that done soon.

Mishka has settled into the family very nicely. She's gotten bigger and put on some weight. She's due for another vet appointment. The kids love her and she seems to tolerate the fact that they pick her up endlessly and never seem to leave her alone. She'll be well socialized. That's for sure.

I guess that's all the random thoughts for today. Have a happy Tuesday!
Some of the keys on this keyboard are sticky and it makes typing somewhat frustrating.

Praying in Seattle!
Psalms 116:1-2 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.

Know that I'm always here praying!
Psalms 116:3-7 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.
