Desperate Times

...Call for desperate measures!

This is how Emanuel decided to make sure that there would be some chocolate milk left for him when he got home from school and weight lifting a few days ago....

Photobucket

When I first saw it, I must admit, I was perplexed, and even a little annoyed. Then I thought about it. Manny leaves early in the morning, he and Drew leave the house around 7:00, well before any of the other kids. He gets home much later since weight lifting is directly after school. ALL of our kids love chocolate milk. He had indeed asked me to make sure I saved some chocolate milk for him that day, but I admit to being forgetful most days...and really...saving out chocolate milk for a particular child isn't necessarily high on my priority list. So, I'm guessing he saw this as his only recourse.
I guess when you have nine siblings, you do what you have to do in order to make sure you get your share of the chocolate milk. Desperate times...

    I'm here praying right now.
Psalms 116:1-5 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

  2. Continuing to lift up prayers!
Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

  3. Praying right now.
Psalms 9:9-10 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

  4. Know that I'm here lifting up thoughts and prayers.
Psalms 107:28-31 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

    Praying in Seattle!
Psalms 32:6-7 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

  6. Whatever lies ahead, the Lord is with you! Praying!
Psalms 32:8, 10-11 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. (10-11) Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

  7. Praying as always!
Galatians 4:3-6: Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

  8. The Lord is with you right now, lifting you up, giving you strength! Always praying!
Isaiah 40:28-31 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

  9. Angela, that is SO FUNNY. My poor kids ask me to save them things sometimes too...and I forget.

I also want to say I am very sorry for your loss. There aren't very many people in this world who understand that just because one has a large family it is no easier to lose a baby. Hugs to you, and take time to grieve this loss. The little ones at home ARE a huge comfort and blessing, but the tears and sorrow are still real.

  12. As we approach Christmas may your thoughts turn toward why this Babe was born! Praying!
John 3:14-17 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
