Not Sure Why Blogger Just Posted My Unfinished Blog But...

here's the rest of the story...
We took him into St. John's. They did a repeat X ray there and got us back into a room. The nurse and then the doctor came in and told us that Isaiah had basically so much poo in there that it was probably not comming out without "help". Miralax, apricots, and juice weren't going to do it. Plus, the issue had gotten so bad, his bladder was now affected and super full. They gave us two issues. Number one...admitt him to the hospital and run a tube through his nose and run this solution called "go lightly" through him until it forced everything out. Number two...a manuel disimaction. This sounds gross and indeed it was. We didn't know what to pick so I asked the doc what he'd do for his kids. He told us he'd go for the disimpaction and then if it didn't work we could admit him and go for the other option. They gave him lots of sedation...Kedamine (sp?) and Versed. The doctor had to work quite hard but was able to get a lot of poo out. My poor baby was out of it and I'm glad. After about an hour of working, we did another Xray and there was STILL some stuff there. The doctor and I stood at the nurses' station debating what to do now and decided that hopefully there was enough out that we could try uping the miralax and juice and give him another 24 hours.
We took him home (at 3:00 a.m.) and the next day, he did finally go on his own.
On the way out of the ER, the nurse told me "Next time, don't let it get this bad."
"Well, " I told him, "We were at the pediatrician's office and the ER at Cardinal Glennon's on Wednesday, and back at the pediatrician's office this morning. They told us that his belly was still distended but still soft."
"The amount of poo we just pulled out of him didn't happen between this morning when you went to the pediatrician and now." he said...
So the next morning when I woke Isaiah up he was lying in a huge puddle of pee. Probably because his bladder was finally working at full capacity. Later he went poo, then went poo again at church...then went poo again before bed. Yea! I never thought I'd be so happy to change diapers. We have to make an appointment to a gaststrointerologist for him ASAP so this doesn't happen again. Also I bought him bran flakes for breakfast this week. Yummy.

Wow! I thought you kind of left that as a cliffhanger! LOL

you can go into where it says "edit" posts and add to what you already had... but this worked just as well! LOL

Glad Isaiah was finally able poo free. We had similiar issue with Cadie... she did start puking... but then also had some nasty virus... we had a hard time deciding what was viral and what was impacted poo!
Frustrating!

Good luck with the bran flakes. I don't think I could get Cadie to eat that... Im keeping prune/apple juice on hand! LOL

Gotta love helpful advice like that! You DID take him in and were trying not to let it get that bad! Why couldn't the drs figure out it was getting that bad?!
Always here praying!
Psalms 18:2-6 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

HOLY CRAP! (literally)
Ang, I wonder if he has some cp issues. It sounds like he might have serious motility issues and often loose muscles can't work the intestines right....

Give me a call. We'll talk "poo"

Glad he finally went- he is probably a new kid! Poor guy! We NEVER have those issues...ha! ha! How did your mom's visit go?

Oh, poor baby! That nurse sounded super rude. Really, ER's and docts I find don't really care about constipation, because we took Chloe in so many times. We did the go lightly and it was amazing. Within 2 days, she had pooped everything out. She had a descended belly and hard, compacted poop though. :(

Hope you change many more diapers!
