So we missed the game, but still had a great Saturday...

Brandon is on day two of the antibiotic. He claims to not feel much better though I have a feeling that his fever has come down. I didn't take it today, actually, but judging from all the external signs his body produces when his fever is high, I'm pretty sure it was down. I think what he is feeling is just tiredness, soreness and the general yuckiness that comes from having spent the past several days...well...sick.
This morning we were supposed to go to Albert's nephew's basketball game. Brandon was going to stay home with Drew and Emanuel, who stated quite honestly that they didn't prefer to go and would rather stay home. Emanuel actually said he didn't like going places when all the babies were going too- its too much work he reasoned!
So we were going to take the six youngest and leave the three oldest at home. However, Albert overslept, as often happens. I give up trying to yell and fuss and fight with him to get up. Unless its absolutely essential, I just sit back and let things play out. So even though I was up at 8:00, I only woke him once to tell him the time. Other than that, I let him sleep. I did however, make sure that the six youngest kids were all ready to go so that we wouldn't be the cause of any extra delay. Except for that accidentally, I was the cause for further delay when I shorted out the circuit in our master bathroom. I had my curling iron plugged into the outlet and was messing with the other end of the cord, the part that attaches to the actual iron (it is wobbly and loose) and all the sudden there was a big blue poof and the room went dark. Manny and Albert had to go to the garage and fix the circuit and it took a couple tries. Oops. But seriously, other than that, I was not the delay! I was actually proud of the fact that I had all the little ones fed, dressed and my purse/diaper bag packed fairly quickly!
In the end, we were not going to make it on time to the game. Albert was a bit bummed because he had really wanted to see his nephew's game but well...I reminded him gently that he should have gotten up earlier. He tried to tell me with a big grin that it was my fault for the curling iron incident but we both know that wasn't true.
We ended up taking the kids to the humane society to look at puppies. They loved it. We visited a couple of other animal rescue shelters as well. At one of them, we found three Great White Pyrenees puppies that had been rescued. We ran home and grabbed Zoe and brought her back up there to see how she got along with one of the puppies and she did great but they wouldn't adopt to us because of Zoe's un-spayed status. Plus the adoption fee was a bit too steep for us - $250. We took the kids out for a smoothie and for a little drive around town. Glad I didn't get them dressed for nothing!
Later we dropped off some of them for naps and kept Brice and Bree and took them out for pizza. Bree had a blowout diaper that necessitated a change of clothing and a big scrubdown of the passenger seat in the van. Guess packing the bag paid off!
We brought pizza home to the kids who weren't with us, and then the older kids went off to hang out at friends' houses. I took a nap while Albert and Brandon watched the little ones and played video games. I slept for a couple hours until Bree woke me up by pounding on my chest. That's her indication that she wants to nurse. We are working on a more acceptable way of letting me know she'd like some milk, but for now, she either slaps or pounds on my chest. Lovely. Especially when it wakes me out of a sound sleep!
Tomorrow I will have to hoot and holler for my hubby to wake up so we won't be late to church! Brandon will be in the clear to go since he'll have been on his antibiotic for more than 24 hours- though if he still has a fever we won't bring him, we'll probably do bible study at home. After that we'll have to swing by the grocery store and then maybe pick up the things we need for Brice's upcoming birthday party.
Albert's spring break is right around the corner. We have a full list of things that need to be done to finish getting ready for the baby- including cleaning out our closet, which is going to house her crib. Before you all think that I sound horrible for doing such a thing- the closet it HUGE. It could make a suitable bedroom for me. I'll post pics when we finally get it all up.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

How did I miss about the strep? You must have written it after I stopped by yesterday...did I stop by yesterday? I thought I did...
